2016 Smoky Mountains Regional FRC Kickoff, Robot Quick Build, and Workshops

Dear 2016 Smoky Mountains Regional FRC Kickoff Attendees,

On behalf of TNFIRST, we are writing to pass along some very important information about the Kickoff, picking-up your Kit-of-Parts, the Robot Quick Build, and Workshops.

The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday January 5th. Please take a few minutes to RSVP/register for the Robot Quick Build and Workshops:

If you sign up for the Robot Quick Build we will send you additional information on what tools to bring and how to divide your team!

Here is a brief overview of the day:

What: 2016 FIRST Smoky Mountains Regional Kickoff and Robot Quick Build
Date: Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM (except for Robot Quick Build we’ll stay until the last robot is running. Last year the last team left at 7;30PM)
Location: Cox Auditorium, SERF, and Perkins Hall, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Purpose: Watch the 2016 FRC Kick Off broadcast together; pick-up your kit-of-parts, attend seminars, participate in a Robot Quick Build, Workshops, and much more.

9:00 – 10:00 am Registration, Cox Auditorium – The high school FIRST teams sign in, team members should have consent and release forms, and an adult member of the team must sign and accept responsibility for the Kit of Parts Receipt (KOPR).

10:00-10:30 am Welcome, Cox Auditorium – Welcome to the teams on behalf of the university, agenda & announcements

10:30- 11:30 am Kick-off Video, Cox Auditorium broadcast from New Hampshire. It will be a satellite TV broadcast via Comcast.

11:30 – 12:30 Pizza lunch in SERF lobby.

Practice Field Elements – Available for visualization 102 Perkins Hall

12:30-2:00 pm Kit-of-Parts Distribution – 319 Perkins Hall (S10 Perkins for Robot Quick Build)
12:30 – 7:30 pm (or when finished) – Robot Quick Build
• Mechanical: Perkins Hall S10 – KOP kits pre-placed for these teams
• Electrical: Perkins Hall
• Programming: Perkins Hall
12:30-1:20 pm Dr. Hamel – SERF 307 “You don’t have much time, so you need to be organized!” Engineering design and project management principles — Dr. Masood Parang

1:30-3:00 pm Parallel Workshops
• Robot Quick Build (3 sub-teams: mechanical, electrical, software) note: we will do our best to accommodate as many teams as possible but space is limited for this session so rookie teams will be given priority.
