On Wednesday, January 15, a one of a kind event happened in Memphis. Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST and Fred Smith, the CEO of Federal Express had a meeting of the minds. All FIRST Family teams were invited to come and show off their robots or robot projects to the employees of Federal Express. Federal Express employees had the opportunity to drive the robots, speak to the students about their design and being in FIRST as well as just saying thank you to Federal Express for their annual in-kind shipping donations. The teams from Memphis were from Jr. FLL, FLL, FTC and FRC.

There were two teams from the Shelby County School System that were invited to come, these teams were Booker T. Washington High School, FRC Team # 2817, the first team ever started in FIRST for Memphis as well as Craigmont High School, FRC Team # 3516, who is also sponsored by Medtronic, Memphis.
